Project
Background soundscaping in the Boardman/Ottaway River, Traverse City, MI
Sound has potential as a guidance cue to direct native fish around barriers and deflect invasive species away from fish passages. Before sound cues can be used however, it is critical to understand the background sound signature of natural waterways. This project will conduct long-term acoustic recordings downstream from the new fish passage in the Boardman/Ottaway River to assess seasonal and daily patterns in background soundscapes to identify frequency ranges of interest for sound mitigation efforts
